Deighton Gates Choir put Wetherby Town into the Christmas spirit by giving a recital of Christmas carols and songs outside Wetherby Town Hall. The children, staff and parents braved the cold and warmed the hearts of Wetherby residents.
Huge Thanks to all those who supported our Be Healthy! Celebration and Fund Raising Week. The fun activities including the Sponsored Bounce!! were a great success. We must also thank Supa-Bounce for kindly donating the Bouncy Castle. The children had lots of fun and altogether, have raised so far a brilliant £673.96. The final total will be split between ‘Aim for Change’ (Charity Reg. no. 1107924) and our school. Well done to everyone! |
| A huge thank you to all parents and carers who supplied cakes and buns for our class bun sales. |

Handing out literacy books, having break in the Staff room, opening the class door after break.
Ordering books, paying catering charges, eating biscuits, sounding the bell for rememberence silence.
Locking the school gates, mending the laminator, fixing a sink.
Blowing the whistle on the playground, cleaning up a spilt pudding.
Taking the register, sorting out lunch choices and bands, giving a table test.
Delivering the post, collecting register boxes, filling photocopiers.
Writing the newsletter, talking to parents , serving tea/coffee.
Staff and children all enjoyed takeover day ( some of the staff have competion for their job roles).
Each year Deighton Gates takes part in the Rotary Shoebox Appeal. The Rotary Club of Lower Wharfdale provide boxes and some of our children fill them with either; toys for younger children; teenage items for boys and girls or household items for families. The boxes are decorated by the children. The shoeboxes are then delivered to children and families in Eastern Europe who live in very poor circumstances. In the past these countries have included Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Albania. Deighton Gates are happy to take part in this very worthy cause and will continue to do so as long as our children and families are willing to fill the shoeboxes. Thank you to all those who have recently filled a shoebox. |

Reception visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and had a fantastic day. The children behaved very well as we looked at all the large fragile sculptures by Jaume Plensa. We all enjoyed banging the gongs and listening to the sounds they made. Outside there was a scary tree house and the bridge where the troll lived. We looked for sculptures in the grounds and found a toilet tree and a lady rabbit! | ![]() |
